Day 6...

Day 6 was a very low key day.  Jeremy had plans to go with Gerry to get some documents notarized but that was all we had planned.  We started the day hanging out in the room.  Jeter is so funny about shoes.  He wants them on all the time!  I am guessing that they kept shoes on most the time at the orphanage and that is why he insist on shoes all the time.  That's okay though, he can rock the PJ's and shoe look!  ;)

Once we were all dressed it was time to eat...
Then we decided to brave the rain and head to the Mall to kill a few hours.

these girls are growing even closer through this journey!
We walked around the mall for a little bit.  The malls here are so different.  The girls loved seeing all the cool things though!

After "window shopping" we ended up at Pizza Hut for lunch!  I know, we are so adventurous!  If we wanted the girls to eat something, this is what we had to do!

We enjoyed playing while waiting for food.  Then he needed a diaper change.  Trying to find somewhere to change his diaper in a land of squatty potties was hard!  They did have a changing station...it just took me like 15 minutes to find.  I had to go up several escalators and down almost like maintenance hallways to find one.  But pizza was on out table when we finally made it back!
After lunch we grabbed a little ice cream to enjoy before heading back out in the rain.

Once we got back and dried off, it was time for rest/quiet time while Jeremy met Gerry.  We played for a little bit and then tried to get Jeter to take a nap.  I held him, bounced him, laid down with him...nothing worked.

Then he got really made because I put the lid on a full bottle of water he was carrying around.  I took it back off but he was so upset at how rude that was of me.  He threw himself on the ground kicking and screaming...I've seriously never seen a fit like this before so I had to take a picture!  ha!
After getting over the shock, I tried to get him to calm down.  Brought out snacks, more water, toys, books, nothing worked.  He just screamed.  I would hold him and he would hit and push and fight me the whole time.  This had been going on for quite awhile when all of a sudden our door opens up.  It was two housekeepers and I guess they wanted to see what was going on so they let themselves in.  I was standing at the back of the room bouncing/rocking him but walked to the door when they opened it.  They reached for him and of course he went because 1 - he was mad at me and 2 - they looked like all his MaMas at the orphanage.  They got him to calm down and of course that made me lose it because I tried everything and couldn't get him to calm down.  I started crying and then the girls started kinda freaking out because they thought they were taking Jeter away!  If all of this wasn't bad enough, the manager comes and tells me that I should leave and go somewhere else since Jeter was crying so loud.  So, we grabbed some snacks, wrote Jeremy a note and then thankfully Jeter came back to me (with the help of a cookie!) and we did the walk of shame around the hotel.  It was a super fun afternoon.
Since it was raining outside and China is just crazy busy, we stayed in the hotel and just walked the halls and stairs.  After about an hour we tried to go back to our room.  He started crying a little, but thankfully was fine as soon as we started playing.
For the first of what I can only imagine many times I thought "It's a good thing you're cute"...because whew, what a day!
Then Jeremy came back with these...
and everything was right in the world again!  ha!

Jeremy had his own adventure!  Jeremy and Gerry went to the Notarization office to get some documents that we needed for Jeter's passport notarized.  They got there at 1:22 but the office didn't open until 1:30.  They waited at the front of the door for 8 minutes until they returned from break.  Once they unlocked the doors, Gerry and J fought with about 6 others to be the first through the doors and the first to the counter to be helped. None of these 6 others were standing outside since 1:22 like they were, but again, it is a push your way through approach. No lines!!!  After getting everything done and getting the papers back, Gerry left for the passport office, while Jeremy walked the 25 minute walk back in the rain.

Once we all regrouped we decided to head back out to the mall because it was just a 10 minute walk and we didn't know anywhere else to go!  ha!

This girl knew her Mommy had a hard day and needed some Reese snuggles!
So back out in the rain...

The girls liked these little statues...no idea what they were for!
We tried a different pizza place and the sweet servers wanted pictures of the girls.
Then it was back to the hotel for hopefully early bedtimes...

Gerry stopped by for one last time to bring us Jeter's passport. We are now all set to head to Guangzhou tomorrow and we could not be more excited!
