Oh my goodness, after very little sleep, we are on our way to CHINA!!! It is so crazy because it seemed like this day would never come. We were scrambling a little (not a huge surprise!) but made it!
The girls were rocking their "Big" and "Bigger" sister shirts and were ready for this exciting journey! The first flight to LA was only about 4 hours. I got to sit next to my very favorite 4 year old. We read, played with little toys, did sticker books, and then she slept. Getting up at 5am will wear a girl out!
Ryne and Jeremy hung out behind us...
Ryne was in charge of Jeter's bear. She took her job very seriously! Ryne actually picked out this bear for Jeter while we were at Disney World. Sweet sister!
It didn't take long until everyone was snoozing!
I enjoyed loving on this sweet sleeping girl. I think that Reese is going to have the hardest adjustment. She is a momma's girl and it is going to be hard to not be the baby anymore. As excited as I am to bring home Jeter, my heart still breaks a little thinking about the way this will change things for Reese. I remember feeling this way about Ryne when I was pregnant with Reese, and that turned out pretty amazing, so I have a feeling this will too! ;)
But oh my those lashes!
One book later we landed in LA! We checked our flight status, and then grabbed a second breakfast! ;)
Waiting at the crazy busy Starbucks...
Jeter's bear is safe!
After that...I let the girls run crazy for a bit! We took them to an open area and had them do follow the leader, Simon says, anything to get them moving. We may have gotten a few stares but with a 13 hour flight happening I wasn't too concerned!
I may have freaked a little at this and taken them directly to the bathroom to scrub away germs.
After doing a little shopping (girls pointed out that they had never been to LA so they should probably get a souvenir!) we were on board and ready to go!
Ready for take-off...
Can I just say how amazing International flights are?! I mean we hadn't even taken off and we were all watching movies. #winning
The flight actually went really well. The girls are fantastic travelers so that didn't really surprise me. They did have some trouble being comfortable enough to sleep. I had to keep pulling Reese's legs up and out of the aisle. But they both slept for probably 4-5 hours.
I watched 5 movies (!) tried to sleep but that wasn't happening, and did a little reading. The biggest problem was that the girls were both super hungry. I underestimated how many snacks we would need and they were not loving the airplane food. They got super excited when they handed out ice cream...unfortunately it was green tea flavored! ha! I thought it was kinda refreshing, but the girls opted out!
I think we were all excited when we landed in Shanghai!

We made it through the airport (which was crazy with the no lines, just push your way through) and met our guide. Then we had about an hour drive to the hotel. They don't do AC much so we were HOT in that van. Hot + tired = barely keeping eyes open! We were exhausted! The girls were wired and hungry! So we ordered room service, took baths, put on pj's, and tried to settle in for the night.
We called it a night fairly early to get ready for our big day tomorrow. The girls were so stinkin' wired though it took some time. Everyone would be quiet and almost asleep and someone would start talking about being in China. It is pretty amazing to be on the other side of the world getting our son!
